'Mann Ki Baat': PM Modi urges people to visit museums, share experiences

During his address to the nation through 'Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged people to visit various museums and share attractive pictures taken there with the hashtag '#MuseumMemory.'

Highlighting the International Museum Expo recently organised in India, PM Modi stated that it showcased the specialties of over 1,200 museums from around the world.

He proceeded to provide information about different museums, urging people to visit them. For instance, Gurugram houses a unique museum called 'Museo Camera', which exhibits a collection of over 8,000 cameras dating back to 1860. In Tamil Nadu, the 'Museum of Possibilities' has been specifically designed to cater to the needs of Divyang people (persons with disabilities). Additionally, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya preserves more than 70,000 items.

PM Modi also mentioned the Indian Memory Project, an online museum established in 2010. It aims to connect India's glorious history through pictures and stories submitted from all over the world, particularly focusing on the memories related to the horrors of Partition.

Furthermore, he shared that 10 new museums dedicated to the contribution of tribal brothers and sisters in the freedom struggle are being established. He highlighted the Biplobi Bharat Gallery in Kolkata's Victoria Memorial and the revival of the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial.

PM Modi expressed that Delhi is adorned with various museums, including the P.M. Museum dedicated to all former Prime Ministers of the country. He acknowledged the National War Memorial, Police Memorial, Dandi Memorial, and the Statue of Unity Museum, where people pay their respects daily.

The prime minister concluded by stating that the list of museums across the country was extensive, and for the first time, comprehensive information about all the museums in India has been compiled.

PM Modi pays tribute to Savarkar on 'Mann Ki Baat'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to Veer Savarkar during his 101st episode of his monthly radio talk show, 'Mann Ki Baat'.

"Today is the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter, Veer Savarkar. The stories related to his sacrifice, courage and resolve inspire us all even today," said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister said that he had visited the cell where Savarkar was lodged by the British and was filled with emotions.

"I cannot forget the day when I went to the cell in Andaman where Savarkar underwent the sentence of Kalapani. Savarkar's personality comprised firmness and magnanimity. His fearless and self-respecting nature did not appreciate the mentality of slavery at all. Not only the freedom movement, whatever Veer Savarkar did for social equality and social justice is remembered even today," the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi invokes Sant Kabir's message in 'Mann Ki Baat'

Emphasising on opposing evil practices that divide the society during his 'Mann ki Baat' radio address on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday invoked Sant Kabir, whose birth anniversary will be observed on June 4.

"The path shown by Kabirdas ji is equally relevant even today. Kabirdas ji used to say, 'Kabira Kuan Ek hai, Pani Bhare Anek Bartan mein hi bhed hai, Paani sab mein ek, which means: There could be myriad kinds of people who come to the well to draw water...But the well does not differentiate anyone...water remains the same in all utensils," said Modi.

The Prime Minister said that Sant Kabir opposed every evil practice that divided the society and tried to awaken the society.

He said, "When the country was moving forward with the determination to develop, we should increase our efforts to empower the society, taking inspiration from Sant Kabir."
