West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, encountered a significant injury to her forehead on Thursday evening, as confirmed by the Trinamool Congress.
Following the mishap, Banerjee received medical attention at a government-run hospital, where she underwent stitches and various medical assessments. Fortunately, doctors declared her condition stable and discharged her shortly after.
The incident occurred at her residence in Kalighat, situated in south Kolkata, shortly after her return from an event, according to her family members.
The Trinamool Congress shared the unfortunate news on social media, urging supporters to keep Banerjee in their thoughts and prayers, accompanied by images depicting her injury.
Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata's nephew and TMC's national general secretary, promptly arranged for her hospitalization.
Providing details of the incident, Kartik Banerjee, Mamata's brother, explained that she sustained the injury during a fall within their residence, necessitating immediate medical attention and stitches.
After receiving treatment at the Woodburn Ward of the state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, Banerjee was discharged later.
Numerous prominent figures expressed their shock and concern over the incident, including Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who conveyed his anguish and wished her a speedy recovery.
Governor CV Ananda Bose and leaders from other states like Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended their wishes for Banerjee's swift recuperation.
The concerned messages flooded social media platforms, with leaders from various political parties, including BJP, Congress, and CPI(M), expressing solidarity and wishing Banerjee a quick recovery.
