Madhya Pradesh: Congress asks party workers to recite Ram Katha, Hanuman Chalisa; BJP terms it 'hypocrisy'

A letter in this regard has been issued in the name of MP Congress president Kamal Nath. Interestingly, the Congress party's  instruction  to its workers has come ahead of the assembly poll in Madhya Pradesh that is scheduled to take place next year. The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has mocked Congress’s appeal to its workers and termed it as ‘hypocrisy’.

Congress has asked party workers in Madhya Pradesh  to recite Sundarkand path and Hanuman Chalisa to celebrate the upcoming 'Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti'. A letter in this regard has been issued in the name of MP Congress president Kamal Nath. Interestingly, the Congress party's  instruction  to its workers has come ahead of the assembly poll in Madhya Pradesh that is scheduled to take place next year. The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has mocked Congress’s appeal to its workers and termed it as ‘hypocrisy’. The BJP recalled how Congress leaders had called Lord Ram "an imaginary character".

1. The Congress directive asks party leaders and workers to celebrate the occasion of Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti by reciting Sundarkand Path and Hanuman Chalisa on April 10 and April 16

2. “On both these auspicious religious festivals, recitation of Lord Ram Katha, programmes of Ramlila and worship of Lord Ram should be organised. Besides, the recitation of Sundarkand and Hanuman Chalisa should be organised on Hanuman Jayanti," stated the letter issued by Chandraprabhash Shekhar, a vice-president Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee.

3. The letter further stated that MP Congress president Kamal Nath, will hold a religious programme on Hanuman Jayanti at Chhindwara.

4. When questioned about party’s move, MP Congress general secretary and media in-charge KK Mishra said, Kamal Nath is a devotee of Lord Hanuman and has been holding such programmes in Chhindwara for the past several years. Congress leaders had organised similar programmes last year.

5. Mocking the Congress letter, BJP spokesman Pankaj Chaturvedi said, "The Congress plays the politics of appeasement. Congress leaders had termed Lord Ram and Ramsetu imaginary. They opposed the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. A Congress leader equated Hindus with terror organisations like ISIS and Boko Haram. The people know their hypocrisy and can't be misled”.
