After stepping down from the role of JD-U national President, Lalan Singh asserted that certain individuals sought to tarnish his reputation through a baseless smear campaign. Dismissing reports alleging his presence at a meeting of JD-U MLAs in a Cabinet minister's office, Singh clarified that he was in Delhi alongside Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during that period.
