Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has petitioned the court seeking authorization to confer with his regular physician through video conferencing due to his fluctuating blood sugar levels.
Judge Rakesh Syal of Rouse Avenue Court instructed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit a response to the application and scheduled the hearing for April 18.
In a hearing on Monday, Judge Kaveri Baweja extended CM Kejriwal’s judicial custody until April 23 in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged excise policy scam under investigation by the ED.
The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) appeared before Judge Baweja at the conclusion of his previous 14-day judicial custody.
During Tuesday's proceedings, Kejriwal’s legal counsel informed the court that his blood sugar level had plummeted to 46. They argued that under such circumstances, Kejriwal should be permitted to consult his doctor via video conferencing three times a week.
However, Special Public Prosecutor (ED) Simon Benjamin countered, stating that the prison facilities are adequately equipped to conduct medical examinations. He suggested that Kejriwal could receive medical attention there and expressed his intention to submit a response to the application.
