In anticipation of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's upcoming 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Gujarat, the party's state unit encountered yet another setback as Arvind Ladani, the MLA representing the Manavadar constituency, tendered his resignation from the party.
This blow to the Congress emerged merely two days subsequent to the departure of former Gujarat unit party president, Arjun Modhwadia.
On Wednesday, Ladani formally submitted his resignation to Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary.
Speculations suggest that Ladani is poised to align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following his disassociation from the Congress.
Having initiated his political voyage as the Sarpanch of Kodvav village back in 1989, Ladani has traversed through various local leadership roles over the years.
His notable triumph in the 2022 Assembly elections was against BJP's Jawahar Chavda.
This resignation signifies an ongoing trend of prominent figures within the Congress transitioning to the BJP, thereby dwindling the Congress' representation in the Assembly from 17 in 2022 to the current count of 13.
