Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Tuesday that the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress are inherently opposed to development and disrespect Sanatan Dharm.
Speaking at a rally to support BJP candidates in Prayagraj and Phulpur, Modi remarked, “For them, good governance and Sanatan Dharm are incompatible.”
He highlighted that Prayagraj lacked development until the BJP assumed power in Uttar Pradesh in 2017.
“You’ve witnessed chaos during Kumbh Melas before, but now these events are organized on a grand and orderly scale. SP and Congress didn’t care about Kumbh Melas—they prioritized their vote banks. They compete in appeasing these vote banks. Their opposition to the Ram temple decision was part of this strategy,” he stated.
Modi emphasized his guiding principle of “Virasat bhi, Vikas bhi,” aiming for development that preserves heritage.
Detailing the developmental achievements in Prayagraj, Modi criticized SP and Congress for their dynastic politics.
“Congress credits one family for Independence. We honored Sardar Patel with the world’s tallest Statue of Unity, yet the Congress family didn’t visit it. The people of Prayagraj will never forgive those who insult Lord Shri Ram. I pay my respects to this sacred land of Triveni,” he said.
He noted that Prayagraj is now experiencing significant growth and the aspirations of its residents are being fulfilled.
Modi mentioned that many first-time voters are unaware of the unsafe conditions for women during the INDIA bloc regime.
“There were extortions and bomb blasts. Can traders forget the mafia seizing their money and land? The BJP government has reclaimed that land to build homes for the poor. Those people had turned UPSC into a Parivar Service Commission,” Modi commented.
He added that SP and Congress are resorting to falsehoods as their influence wanes.
“They lie about the Constitution. Everyone knows who attempted to alter it by imposing the Emergency. The Allahabad High Court curbed Congress’s misdeeds,” he said, assuring that under his watch, neither reservations nor the Constitution will be tampered with.
