It has been brought before the Kerala High Court by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Navya Haridas for challenging the recent election victory of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in the November 13 bypoll.
Haridas had also fought the election from the same constituency but lost to Gandhi by 5,12,399 votes. She had come a distant third behind Communist Party of India's Sathyan Mokeri.
She had suppressed vital information about various assets owned by her and the family members while submitting nomination papers, Haridas said in her petition before the High Court.
Haridas said that Gandhi also misguided, misinformed and kept the voters in the dark with the intention of influencing the voter's exercise of choice.
Furthermore, in its petition, the said pleading also alleged that on a few occasions, Gandhi also had exercised undue influence upon the voters and he even had indulged in the corrupt practice as defined under the Representation of the People Act 1951.
It further argues that the nomination paper of Gandhi was violating election laws and conduct of elections rules.
On these and such other grounds, Haridas has prayed to have declared as null and void, the election victory of Indian National Congress Leader.
Mr Hari Kumar G Nair appears for Haridas.
