BJP Takes Aim at INDIA Bloc Amid Pakistan's Terrorist Funerals and 'Saboot Yatra'

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took a sharp dig at the INDIA alliance-led opposition on Wednesday, criticizing their response to the success of India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Poonawalla made the comment in reference to former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi’s objection to US President Donald Trump’s suggestion of ‘mediation’ between India and Pakistan amidst the escalating tensions.

He joked, "While Pakistan stages funeral processions for terrorists killed in Indian airstrikes, some of our politicians are planning 'Saboot Yatras'," referring to the INDIA alliance's insistence on proof about the success of the operation.

Poonawalla further indicated that while the BJP is carrying out a 'Tiranga Yatra' to celebrate the success of 'Operation Sindoor' and pay tribute to the bravery of the armed forces, opposition parties such as Congress and AAP are questioning its efficacy.

Atishi, in her Tuesday X post, had wondered why Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a ceasefire while Indian troops were still fighting to eliminate terrorists as revenge for the Pahalgam attack. Poonawalla hit back, saying of Atishi's position, "Atishi's parents defended Afzal Guru. She demands evidence of Pakistan's defeat but does not believe the Indian Army. She would believe it if Pakistan accepted defeat."

He added, "Pakistan has never admitted defeat following defeats in 1965, 1971, and 1999, but Atishi seeks assurance from Pakistan itself. Congress leader Hussain Dalwai too doubts the reports of 100 terrorists killed, seeking evidence.

Poonawalla reiterated that the Indian Army had already given a detailed report of the operation in a lengthy press briefing on how the military had blown up nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He also drew the opposition's attention to their earlier skepticism about the surgical strikes and the Balakot strike.

"Opposition remarks following the Pahalgam attack clearly indicate their tendency to exoneration of Pakistan. They clearly show that there are two fronts: one survives on India but supports Pakistan," he said caustically.
