BJP MP Locket Chatterjee Pledges Tatas' Return to Singur Under Party Rule

"We are optimistic about our prospects in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, aiming to secure more seats than our previous tally of 18 in 2019. With a comprehensive victory, we foresee the collapse of the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in the state. Upon assuming power, our top priority will be to entice the Tatas back to Singur, which falls within the Hooghly constituency," stated the former actor turned political figure.

BJP Member of Parliament Locket Chatterjee, who is vying for reelection from the Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal, expressed confidence in her party's ability to bring back the Tatas to Singur should they come to power in the state.

"We are optimistic about our prospects in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, aiming to secure more seats than our previous tally of 18 in 2019. With a comprehensive victory, we foresee the collapse of the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in the state. Reflecting on her visits to Singur, Chatterjee noted, "Whenever I visit Singur, the residents implore me to assist them in finding employment opportunities. Mamata Banerjee's governance has transformed Singur into a desolate landscape devoid of employment and economic vitality."

Accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of betraying both farmers and industries under the guise of the Singur agitation, Chatterjee emphasized the need for a rejuvenation of the region's economic prospects.

Singur, once renowned for its diverse agricultural practices, gained prominence when Tata Motors announced plans to establish its Nano manufacturing unit in the area back in 2006. However, the acquisition of 997.11 acres of land by the then Left Front government and subsequent conflicts led to Tata Motors relocating the project to Gujarat.

Chatterjee criticized the imprisonment of three Trinamool Congress leaders on corruption charges and contrasted it with what she perceived as the good governance of the Modi government, suggesting that such disparities would influence voters' decisions.

Responding to TMC's promotion of the 'Lakshmir Bhandar' project as a symbol of women empowerment, Chatterjee referenced recent incidents in Sandeshkhali, highlighting the plight of distressed women and questioning the efficacy of the government's initiatives.

Regarding her TMC rival Rachana Banerjee, Chatterjee maintained a neutral stance, stating, "I harbor no personal animosity towards her, despite our past collaborations."
