The BJP has severely criticized Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, for drawing parallels between her husband and Lord Krishna and making an alleged false claim that he was born on Janmashtami in 1968.
To that, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla pointed out the error and said, "Sunita Kejriwal says Arvind Kejriwal was born on Janmashtami in 1968, but that is incorrect. Janmashtami fell on August 15 that year and Kejriwal's actual date of birth is August 16."
Poonawalla continued his attack on Sunita Kejriwal by pointing out how she compared her husband to Lord Krishna and how a person who is allegedly involved in the liquor scam could be compared with that deity.
He focused on recent political development, citing AAP defeat in Delhi Lok Sabha elections and legal setbacks to CM Kejriwal as events that have unmasked party and national leader.
What perhaps came across as a rhetorical jab at the Congress party, Poonawalla said this while addressing its MP Jairam Ramesh, almost inviting the latter to respond in regard to the controversy.
