The Congress and BJP in Telangana on Tuesday sought to run each other down hours after the Supreme Court granted bail to BRS MLC K. Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy case.
While the BJP claimed that Congress and their set of advocates got bail for Kavitha, the grand old party said she got bail owing to connivance between the BJP and BRS.
Reacting to the development, Union Minister of State for Home and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar tweeted: "Congratulations to the Congress and its advocates for securing bail to BRS MLC in the infamous liquor scam. Your untiring efforts finally yielded fruits. "This bail is a win for both BRS and Congress; one BRS leader out on bail, and a Congressman goes to Rajya Sabha," this cryptic tweet seemed to indicate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the Congress candidate for Rajya Sabha from Telangana.
Remarkable political acumen by the KCR in that a candidate, who initially argued for the bail, was nominated to Rajya Sabha unopposed by the ruling Congress. "Congratulations to the partners in crime who wine and dine," he further added.
Stating that the very fact that Kavitha was granted a bail reflects that the process for BRS party's merger with the BJP has been initiated, TPCC Working President Mahesh Kumar Goud has today addressed the media.
He also said that BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao were holding talks with some BJP leaders on the merger of their party and as an off-shoot, the ED has helped Kavitha get a bail.
The Congress leader said they were predicting for long that Kavitha will get bail due to connivance between BRS and BJP, alleging that for the last 10 years there was a secret pact between the two parties. "When you delve deep into the reasons for Kavitha getting bail now, it becomes clear that process for BRS' merger with the BJP has commenced," he said.
The Congress leader also alleged that the two parties have joined hands publicly to create problems for the Congress government in Telangana led by Revanth Reddy.
In a big relief to Kavitha, the daughter of BRS President and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Supreme Court on Tuesday granted her bail in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam case, which involved charges of corruption and money laundering.
While doing so, the apex court clarified that it made no observation on merits while releasing Kavitha on bail and such observations shall not prejudice the conduct of the trial.
The ED had arrested Kavitha from Hyderabad on March 15 and she was since then in judicial custody in Delhi.
