The BJP in Bihar has unveiled its fifth list of candidates for the upcoming elections, featuring prominent names like R.K. Singh, Giriraj Singh, and Nityanand Rai, along with former Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The announcement came with some notable changes, as certain sitting MPs have been replaced.
Notably, former Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey has been sidelined, missing out on the ticket from Buxar, while Ajay Nishad has been dropped from Muzaffarpur. Instead, Mithilesh Tiwari will represent Buxar and Raj Bhushan Nishad will stand for Muzaffarpur.
Adding to the roster, Vivek Thakur, the son of former Union Minister Dr. C.P. Thakur and a Rajya Sabha MP, has been nominated to contest from Nawada.
The BJP has reaffirmed its support for certain candidates, with Ravi Shankar Prasad set to run again from Patna Sahib, R.K. Singh from Arrah, Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, and Nityanand Rai from Ujiarpur.
Other notable candidates include Ram Kripal Yadav for Pataliputra, Shivesh Ram for Sasaram (SC), Rajiv Pratap Rudy for Saran, Gopal Jee Thakur for Darbhanga, Sanjay Jaiswal, the former state President, for Paschim Champaran, and Radha Mohan Singh for Purvi Champaran.
Additionally, Ashok Kumar Yadav will represent Araria, Pradeep Kumar Singh will stand for Madhubani, and Janardan Singh Sigriwal will contest from Maharajganj.
Out of Bihar's 40 seats, the BJP is set to contest 17.
In parallel developments, the JD-U, vying for 16 seats, has also announced its candidate list, while the remaining seven seats are being contested by various other parties including Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (5), Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha, and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (1 each).
