The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, resumed on Friday morning in Assam, continuing its journey to Majuli, known as the world's largest inhabited island.
Several boats ferried the Congress leader and his party colleagues from Nimatighat in Jorhat district to Aphalamukh Ghat in Majuli district. Special ferries were arranged to transport some vehicles across the Brahmaputra River.
Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by key party leaders, including General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, State President Bhupen Kumar Borah, and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Debabrata Saikia.
Upon reaching Aphalamukh Ghat, Gandhi is expected to visit the Auniati Satra, a significant Vaishnavite site, after which the Yatra will pass through Garmur. A morning break is scheduled at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex in Jengraimukh, where Jairam Ramesh and party MP Gaurav Gogoi will address a press conference.
The Yatra will then proceed to Dhakuakhana in North Lakhimpur district by bus, with Rahul Gandhi set to address a public meeting at Gogamukh in the evening. The Yatra will halt for the night at Gogamukh Colony ground, as per the party's schedule.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, initiated by Rahul Gandhi, began its journey in Manipur on January 14 and is set to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21. Covering 6,713 km in 67 days, it will pass through 110 districts in 15 states. In Assam, the Yatra will continue until January 25, covering 833 km across 17 districts.
