Following the trend of defections within the Mahagathbandhan to the NDA in Bihar, Neetu Singh, Congress MLA from Hisua constituency in Nawada district, hinted at a potential switch by expressing willingness to consider joining the BJP if offered a ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Singh emphasized the desire of Nawada constituents for a local MP and voiced her demand for a Congress ticket for the parliamentary elections. She noted that historically, Nawada has been represented by MPs from other districts, prompting her interest in contesting from her own constituency. However, she indicated openness to exploring options if the BJP were to extend a Lok Sabha ticket from Nawada.
The recent wave of defections began on February 12, with seven MLAs, including five from the RJD and two from the Congress, defecting to the NDA. Among them, Bharat Bind, RJD MLA from Bhabhua in Kaimur district, aligned with BJP legislators during the House proceedings on the final day of the budget session.
Prior to this, Chetan Anand, Neelam Devi, and Prahalad Yadav from the RJD had joined the NDA camp during a floor test of Nitish Kumar's government on February 12. Subsequently, three more MLAs - Sidhartha Saurav and Murari Prasad Gautam from the Congress, and Sangita Kumari from the RJD - crossed over to the NDA on February 27.
