As per the most recent voters' list from the Election Commission (EC), approximately 1.85 crore voters fall into the category of being over 80 years old, with an additional 2.38 lakh classified as "centenarians" (aged 100 years and above).

The law ministry issued a gazette notification on Friday, signaling amendments to the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, thereby extending the eligibility for postal ballots to individuals above 85 years of age. Earlier adjustments by the EC had granted the same privilege to those over 80 years old.
