Chandrababu Naidu Targeted by Stone-Throwers in Visakhapatnam

During their respective election campaign speeches, unidentified assailants hurled stones at Naidu in Guntur and Kalyan in Visakhapatnam. Despite the tension and chaos, none of the projectiles hit their targets, allowing both leaders to evade harm.

The aftermath of the stone attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy saw similar incidents targeting other political figures. On Sunday, both Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party (JSP) leader Pawan Kalyan faced attempts on their lives, fortunately escaping unharmed.

In Visakhapatnam's Gajuwaka, where Naidu held a public gathering, the situation turned tense as stones were thrown from behind the Parajagalam vehicle. Despite attempts by TDP workers to apprehend the attackers, they managed to flee the scene. Expressing his outrage, Naidu issued a stern warning to those behind the attack, reaffirming his determination not to be cowed by such cowardly acts.

Security measures were promptly reinforced following the incidents, reflecting the gravity of the situation. Naidu also voiced concerns about the alleged involvement of 'Ganja and blade gangs', vowing to address the matter along with other issues in Vijayawada.

Naidu further criticized the power outage during Jagan's meeting in Vijayawada, questioning the accountability for such disruptions. Recalling past incidents involving Jagan, including the knife attack in 2018 and the murder of his uncle Vivekananda Reddy in 2019, Naidu accused the YSRCP leader of exploiting sympathy to win elections.

Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan faced a similar ordeal while campaigning in Tenali, Guntur district. These incidents occurred just a day after Jagan Mohan Reddy himself was injured in a stone-pelting incident during his campaign in Vijayawada's Ajit Singh Nagar area. As the state gears up for Assembly and Lok Sabha elections on May 13, such violent episodes underscore the tense political climate prevailing in Andhra Pradesh.
