After Gahlot's Resignation, Delhi Congress Labels AAP a 'Sinking Ship'

"The likelihood of AAP ministers and MLAs either going to jail or deserting the party is paving the way for the Congress in Delhi," said Devender Yadav, the President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

Blaming corruption in the AAP government for the sudden resignation of Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot on Sunday, the Congress said, "AAP is a sinking ship and the ruling party has been caught in the web of corruption, commission, and mal-administration."

"The likelihood of AAP ministers and MLAs either going to jail or deserting the party is paving the way for the Congress in Delhi," said Devender Yadav, the President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

He said Gahlot was a close associate of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, and his exit from the Delhi Cabinet and the AAP has exposed the party's internal dirty politics and secrets.

The Delhi Congress chief claimed two of the reasons cited by Gahlot in his resignation letter to Kejriwal were that the AAP government failed to clean the polluted Yamuna, and corruption in the construction of the "Sheesh Mahal" or former CM Kejriwal's official residence.
"We had promised to transform Yamuna into a clean river, but now the Yamuna is perhaps even more polluted than ever before," he said.

Yadav said Gahlot had only proved Delhi Congress charge of corruption and misrule by AAP leaders.

He claimed the AAP lost the faith and trust of people and the party's disintegration was on expected lines.

Heaping scorn on the corruption allegations leveled by Gahlot against the Delhi government, Yadav said Kejriwal must now feel to be in tremendous fear of being exposed.

Congress General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala said, "This is not related to the Congress since we have no alliance with AAP in Delhi, and it is their internal matter. But the people of Delhi are suffering because of conflict between two individuals and both parties."

Citing challenges such as corruption and AAP's deviation from the path of fighting for public welfare, Gahlot on Sunday resigned from the Delhi Cabinet and the party, delivering a big blow to the AAP ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in February.

DPCC chief Yadav addressed thousands of Congress workers, street vendors, sacked bus marshals, and local residents at Ghonda Chowk in Ghonda Assembly in North East Delhi on the 10th day of the Delhi Nyay Yatra on Sunday afternoon.

He said the failure of the Arvind Kejriwal government to enforce the Street Vending Act, which permits separate vending zones to street vendors, has impacted lakhs of poor people who are harassed day in and day out by police and other officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

He said that when the Congress-led UPA government was at the Centre, then Urban Development Minister Ajay Maken initiated a Street Vending law in Parliament which ensured street vending as a right to livelihood by giving them separate vending zones, but the Kejriwal government only tried to displace them by snatching their livelihood.

Delhi Nyay Yatra on Sunday covered the Ghonda and Seelampur Assembly constituencies before concluding at Nala Road, Jaffarabad. Yadav said, "The motive of the Yatra is to get rid of corrupt and inept parties like AAP and the BJP from Delhi.

He added that the people of Delhi want Congress in power once again for they yearn for a government that would work for them, give them justice and prosperity, and give them relief from the anguish suffered in the last 10 years.

Delhi Congress President said that the Atishi government, in the two-day Assembly session, demanded the re-employment of the bus marshals but despite the direction of the LG to reemploy the bus marshals by November 1, the CM and Kejriwal were playing politics with the lives of unemployed marshals.
