Addressing a joint press conference with Left Front Chairman Biman Bose, Chowdhury questioned Banerjee's decision to backtrack after initially claiming credit for naming the opposition bloc. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Congress West Bengal President, took a jab at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday, drawing a parallel between her and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whom he dubbed as "Paltu Kumar" for the opposition INDIA bloc. Chowdhury humorously referred to Banerjee as "Paltu Kumari," likening her to Nitish Kumar in West Bengal.

Chowdhury issued a virtual challenge to the Chief Minister, emphasizing that he would retire from politics if he failed to secure re-election from Baharampur for the sixth consecutive term. He challenged Banerjee to publicly acknowledge her personal defeat if he emerged victorious again.

Responding to concerns about the historical performance of the Congress-Left Front alliance, where the CPI-M successfully mobilized its dedicated voter base for the Congress but received less reciprocal support, Bose expressed optimism for a reversal of this trend.
