Mayawati Criticizes Amroha MP Danish Ali for Alleged Betrayal of Constituency

During a rally in support of BSP's candidate Mujahid Hussain, Mayawati emphasized the party's commitment to justice, highlighting that despite Ali's actions, they did not hold the entire community accountable. Instead, they opted to field Hussain as their candidate in the upcoming elections.

Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, has voiced her strong condemnation towards former BSP member Danish Ali, now Amroha's MP, accusing him of betraying both the people of his constituency and the party itself. Ali, previously elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019 under the BSP banner, faced expulsion from the party earlier this year for activities deemed detrimental to party interests. Subsequently, he aligned himself with the Congress, which nominated him as their candidate for Amroha. Without explicitly naming Ali, Mayawati expressed her disappointment, stating that the individual elected on a BSP ticket failed to prioritize the welfare and development of the electorate, thus betraying their trust.

Mayawati also directed criticism towards the Congress, attributing its decline in power to flawed policies and work culture. She asserted that similar challenges confront its allies, paving the way for the BJP's ascension to power at the national level. However, she didn't spare the BJP either, denouncing its casteist, capitalist, and communal policies. Mayawati claimed that the BJP's failure to fulfill promises would make their electoral victory challenging without resorting to tampering with EVMs.

Further, Mayawati accused the BJP of prioritizing the interests of favored capitalists, asserting that their financial support sustains political parties, including the BJP itself. She also criticized the BJP's governance, alleging adverse impacts on the development of minorities, particularly Muslims, under its rule. Mayawati highlighted instances of atrocities perpetrated in the name of Hindutva, blaming the BJP-RSS government for hindering minority development.

In terms of electoral strategy, the BSP, having previously formed an alliance with the Samajwadi Party in 2019, has opted to contest the upcoming election independently. The BJP's candidate, Kanwar Singh Tanwar, secured victory in 2014 but faced defeat at the hands of Danish Ali in 2019. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a rally in support of Tanwar, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav jointly campaigned in the constituency. The polling in Amroha is scheduled for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 26.
