Indulge your ears with the floating sounds of Cigarettes After Sex, the American dream pop band that had everyone talking at this year's Lollapalooza India 2023. They return to India in 2025 with the X's World Tour kicking off today upon the release of the latest album, X's. This album has already created quite a buzz with 10 tracks, offering the band's traditional style of dreamy pop but with elements of 90s pop and 70s dance music.
The India leg of the tour will see them perform in Delhi NCR on January 24, Mumbai on January 25, and Bengaluru on January 28. The mystery around the venues is not over yet, but one can mark the calendar and prepare to buy the tickets on BookMyShow from the 19th of July onwards, 12 PM.
Cigarettes After Sex is an American band formed in 2008 in El Paso, Texas, by lead vocalist and guitarist Greg Gonzalez, Randall Miller on bass, and Jacob Tomsky on drums. They gained quick notoriety with the track "Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby" in 2012, picked up across the globe. Other big tracks include "Apocalypse," "Sweet," and "K."
Their third studio album, X's, was released on July 12, 2024, and it is considered one of the best personal and introspective statements from the band to date. According to Gonzalez, the album speaks through his previous experiences, particularly a four-year-long relationship that many songs take inspiration from. He described his album as confronting and finding peace with his feelings in an interview: "I have to confront everything I went through, that's just how I make peace. They are like photos, and if I write a song then it's always going to be dear to me, and yeah it's painful that it's gone, but I am just so fucking lucky I had that ever."
