This is the second terror incident in Jammu and Kashmir after the ceasefire accord between India and Pakistan became effective on May 11.

In a separate attack later on the same evening, suspected militants opened fire at the gate of the Army's Nagrota Corps headquarters, wounding a duty guard. A soldier was injured in the attack, following which the assailants escaped.

Against this backdrop, security in Jammu and Kashmir continues to be on high alert. The Pakistan Army had violated the ceasefire on Saturday even as both countries had committed to a halt in hostilities across land, sea, and air.

In precautionary measure, police have advised residents along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) to wait before returning to their homes until the area is considered completely safe.
