The Indian Army announced on Wednesday that the terror training camp leveled by the soldiers in Operation Sindoor was also the same camp where masterminds of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Ajmal Kasab and David Headley, had taken intense training.
Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab was a Pakistani militant and a member of Islamist militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba through which he took part in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
David Coleman Headley is a Pakistani-American terrorist who orchestrated the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks. He was the architect of the attacks and coordinated with the Pakistan-based Islamist terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
In an interview with the media, Col. Sofiya Qureshi released videos of the precision strikes where one can witness destruction in various terror camps, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters in Muridke, in Pakistan's Punjab province.
Terrorist base Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, headquarter of Jaish-e-Mohammed, was among the targets struck by the Indian forces. No military facilities were attacked, and until now there has been no news of civilian deaths in Pakistan," she added.
Nine sites -- four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) -- were targeted during Operation Sindoor following the April 22 terrorist attack on Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
Indian Air Force selected targets based on inputs that terror camps had been camouflaged as health centers so that they would not be detected, the army stated.
The targets were organizations operated by global banned outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
These targets included Lashkar-e-Taiba's Muridke HQ -- visited by David Headley and Tahawwur Rana, and linked with Kasab's training. Osama bin Laden was reportedly having provided Rs 10 lakh for a guest house in the campus.
Shawai Nalla camp, Muzaffarabad (PoK) -- a major Lashkar-e-Taiba training facility where 26/11 attackers were trained and operational since 2000 and capable of housing 200-250 terrorists, was targeted as well.
Sarjal, Tehra Kalan (district Narowal, Pakistan) -- a key launch site of Jaish-e-Mohammed was operated from a health centre, which was under the control of de facto chief Abdul Rauf Asgar. Six km away from the Samba sector in Jammu, used for cross-border digging of tunnels and dropping of arms and narcotics by drones, was also hit in the air attack.
The other targets attacked by the Indian Army included Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur; Markaz Abbas, Kotli; Syedna Bilal camp, Muzaffarabad; Markaz Taiba, Muridke; Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala; Makaz Raheel Shahid, Kotli; and Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot.
Intelligence sources added that the selection of these targets was based on the extensive intelligence on Pakistan's evolving tactics to conceal terror infrastructure and avoid international sanctions, especially those imposed by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
