Rajnath Singh in Jammu, Meets Families of Three Civilians Killed in Poonch

During his visit, sources reported that relatives of three civilians allegedly killed by the Army in Topa Peer village of Bafliaz area in Poonch district met with the defence minister.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Jammu for a scheduled high-level security review meeting, accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

During his visit, sources reported that relatives of three civilians allegedly killed by the Army in Topa Peer village of Bafliaz area in Poonch district met with the defence minister. These family members demanded accountability for the reported torture and subsequent deaths of their loved ones, seeking justice for the tragic incident. As per sources, assurances were given to the families regarding the pursuit of justice in this matter.

Additionally, it's been noted that senior Army officials visited the homes of the affected families at Topa Peer village, assuring strict actions against those responsible for the unfortunate deaths.

To address the situation, authorities have promised compensation including Rs 30 lakh, a government job, and 10 marlas of land in Surankote for the next of kin of each deceased individual.

Responding to the public outcry surrounding the alleged incident, changes within the military structure have taken place, with the transfer of the Brigadier and Colonel responsible for the area where the incident occurred.

Law enforcement has taken action by registering an FIR (First Information Report) into these reported killings, and the government has initiated an inquiry to thoroughly investigate the matter.

The Army has pledged its full cooperation with the investigation to identify and bring the responsible individuals to justice in connection with these distressing events.
