President Murmu Highlights Key Achievements: Ram Temple and Economic Reforms Shine as Hallmarks of Modi Government

On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the achievements of the Modi government during her 75-minute address to both Houses of Parliament in the Lok Sabha chamber of the new Parliament building. She praised the government's accomplishments over the past 10 years, emphasizing the realization of the centuries-old desire to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya. Murmu also commended the armed forces for their response to terrorism and expansionism, acknowledging India's transformation from the "fragile five" to one of the "top five" economies globally.

Murmu received applause when discussing the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, stating that the Modi government has accomplished tasks that the country awaited for decades. She highlighted the abolishment of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the enactment of a strict law against 'Triple Talaq.'

The President praised the armed forces for giving a befitting reply to terrorism and expansionism and acknowledged the visible improvement in internal security, with a sense of security prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir. She highlighted the reduction in incidents of separatism in the northeast and the decline in Naxal violence.

Murmu outlined the government's focus on youth power, women power, farmers, and the poor as the pillars of a developed India. She acknowledged achievements in poverty alleviation, defence production crossing the Rs 1 lakh crore-mark, and the success of 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat.'

The President lauded the smooth passage of the women's reservation bill and commended efforts to control inflation during global crises, including the Covid pandemic. She praised the government's commitment to empowering women, granting permanent commission to women in the Armed Forces, and promoting their participation in institutions like Sainik Schools and the National Defence Academy.

Murmu concluded by highlighting India's economic progress amidst global crises, maintaining a growth rate of over 7.5 percent for two consecutive quarters. She expressed the government's dedication to empowering MSMEs and small entrepreneurs, noting the significant reduction in inflation over the past decade. The address was attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi.
