PM Modi Pledges to Enhance Connectivity with Approval of Delhi Metro's Fourth Phase

Taking this to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote in a post, "We are committed to improving connectivity across the country. In this direction, our government has approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor under the fourth phase of Delhi Metro in the National Capital Region. This will make commuting between Delhi and Haryana easier."

As the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday approved the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor of Delhi Metro's Phase-IV, the PM on Saturday expressed the government's commitment to improving connectivity across the country.

This corridor is spread over 26.463 kilometers, and it would provide improved connectivity between the national capital and Haryana.

The corridor is scheduled to be completed in four years from the date of its approval, and it is estimated to cost Rs. 6,230 crore. The project will be implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited, which is a 50:50 Special Purpose Vehicle for both the Government of India (GoI) and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).

This new line will expand the existing Red Line that runs from Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) to Rithala. It will enhance connectivity to the northwestern part of Delhi, such as Narela, Bawana, and parts of Rohini. There will be a total of 21 elevated stations on this new line.

Upon completion, the Rithala–Narela–Nathupur corridor would connect the new bus station of Shaheed Sthal in Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh with Nathupur in Haryana and complete the linkages of this entire NCR.

The completion of the Delhi Metro phase IV is believed to increase the reach of its network to the NCR thereby helping it to boost the growth of its economy. Pollution caused due to the excessive traffic flow will also be reduced owing to reduced road congestion after the introduction of this corridor.

The elevated line will cover 21 elevated stations which will include Rithala, Rohini Sector 25, Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, Rohini Sector 32, Rohini Sector 36, Barwala, several sectors in Bawana Industrial Area, Sanoth, New Sanoth, Depot Station, Bhorgarh village, Anaj Mandi Narela, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela, Narela Sector 5, Kundli, and Nathpur.

This corridor shall be the fourth extension of Delhi Metro into Haryana, besides three existing services to Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh.
