PM Modi and Italian PM Meloni Exchange Views on Global Developments ahead of G7 Summit

In his commentary, PM Modi telephoned the Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni to reiterate their commitment to strengthening bilateral strategic partnership. They discussed "regional and global developments of mutual interest."

"Spoke with PM @GiorgiaMeloni and extended greetings as Italy celebrates its Liberation day today. Thanked her for the invite to the G7 Summit in June. Discussed taking forward #G20India outcomes at the G7. Reaffirmed commitment to deepening our Strategic Partnership," PM Modi tweeted.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), "The leaders discussed taking forward the important outcomes from India's G20 Presidency, especially that support the Global South, at the G7 Summit under Italy's Presidency." They reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further fortifying their bilateral strategic partnership.

It is worth pointing out that Prime Minister Modi and PM Meloni met for a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the last G20 Summit, which was held in Delhi last September. "They reaffirmed their commitment to continue to strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership," it added.

Prime Minister Modi also acknowledged the presence of Italy in numerous forums, including the Global Biofuel Alliance and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. It has added to the cooperative works between the two nations in various fields.
