A bench headed by CJI D.Y. Chandrachud ordered that "police shall not take any action" in furtherance of the directions contained in the impugned judgment of the Madras High Court.

Reacting to media queries on 'Country Update' on India, the USCIRF report, the Ministry of External Affairs criticized the US federal government agency that monitors the universal right to freedom of religion or belief abroad and makes policy recommendations to the country's President, Secretary of State, and US Congress.

Noting the immediate next order by the Delhi Police rescinding the prohibitory orders which had been enacted on September 30, a bench headed by Chief Justice Manmohan said these orders that prohibited gathering of five or more people to the discredit of themselves, had banned weapons, banners, placards, and picketing or protests in public places of New Delhi, North, and Central districts as well as on all state borders of Delhi, till October 5.
