Delhi Police Constable Shoots Wife on Road After Dispute, Leaves Her Fatally Injured

According to preliminary information, the couple was riding a scooter during the early hours of Monday when a verbal dispute broke out between them. Bhati stopped the vehicle, and both of them got off while the argument continued.

A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot his wife dead following an argument while the couple was travelling on a scooter in East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area on Monday. The accused, identified as Manish Bhati, reportedly opened fire on his wife in the middle of the road before fleeing from the spot.

According to preliminary information, the couple was riding a scooter during the early hours of Monday when a verbal dispute broke out between them. Bhati stopped the vehicle, and both of them got off while the argument continued.

Eyewitnesses told police that Bhati allegedly fired at his wife, left her lying on the roadside and escaped from the scene.

The incident was discovered after a passerby noticed the woman’s body near the road. The passerby, a delivery executive, immediately took her to Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital in East Delhi for medical assistance. Despite efforts by doctors, she died during treatment.

Bhati was recently posted with the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) in East Delhi. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Priyanka, who worked as a teacher. Monday was also her birthday.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. A search operation has been launched to locate and arrest the accused constable.
