Delhi University's North Campus Mughal Garden renamed as 'Gautam Buddha Centenary Garden'

The PTI report quoted an official, who wished to remain unnamed, as saying that the decision to change the name came after a prolonged discussion with the university's Garden Committee. The official said that the garden was neither built by the Mughals nor does it have the design of a traditional Mughal garden, which typically features canals, pools, fountains, waterfalls, and fruit and flower trees.
Odisha Health Minister, shot by cop, succumbs to injuries

In a statement, the Apollo Hospital here said the Minister was admitted to the hospital here with gunshot wounds on his left chest. A team of doctors, led by Dr Debashish Nayak, immediately attended to and operated on him. On operating, it was found that a single bullet had entered and exited the body, injuring the heart and left lung, and causing massive internal bleeding and injury, it said.

Navika Gupta, deputy press secretary to President Droupadi Murmu, said: "On the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', the President of India is pleased to give a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as 'Amrit Udyan'." Murmu will grace the opening of the Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan -- Udyan Utsav 2023 -- on January 29.
Two IAF jets crash in MP; pilot flying Mirage 2000 dies

While two pilots of Sukhoi Su-30 managed to eject, the pilot flying Mirage 2000 lost his life after sustaining serious injuries. The deceased pilot has been identified as Wing Commander Hanumanth Rao Sarathi (flying the Mirage 2000). Two other pilots (flying Sukhoi Su-30) were later flown by an IAF helicopter for medical treatment in Gwalior.

However, while it was warm during the day, cold winds blew after the sun went down. There was no rain in the city as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), but it said that minimum temperatures are in the range of 3-6 degrees Celsius at many parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi and at a few places over Punjab and at isolated places over Rajasthan.

Aditya-L1: India's first space-based mission to study Sun to be launched by June-July 2023

Aditya-L1 is the first space-based Indian mission to study the sun from a halo orbit around the Lagrangian point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system. This mission, with seven payloads on board to observe the photosphere, chromosphere, and the outermost layers of the sun (the corona), will provide greater advantage of observing solar activities and its effect on space weather, according to officials of ISRO.
India issues notice to Pakistan on implementation of Indus Water Treaty: Reports

Reports quoting sources said that the "notice of modification" was sent to Islamabad on January 25. India and Pakistan had signed the IWT in September 1960 after nine-year-long negotiations. The World Bank was a signatory of the pact. The IWT envisages a mechanism for cooperation and information exchange between the two countries regarding the use of waters of a number of rivers.
Egypt expresses keen interest in acquiring Tejas fighter jets, other advanced military equipment from India

Egypt has already held preliminary talks with India on the procurement of Tejas and is also looking at procuring Akash missiles and smart anti-airfield systems. Other countries such as the United States, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Argentina, and the Philippines have also shown interest in India's Tejas aircraft. In their talks, Modi and Sisi decided to elevate the India-Egypt bilateral cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership.
