Karnataka announces lockdown for 2 weeks from Tuesday

Announcing this after the cabinet meeting here, Karnataka chief minister, B.S. Yediyurappa said that Karnataka will enforce lockdown measures to contain Indian variants of the deadly virus spreading like wildfire.
500-bed Covid hospital at Radha Soami centre in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the temporary Covid hospital on Monday and inspected the medical facilities there. After inspecting the hospital, Kejriwal said, "Visited the Radha Swami Covid Facilitation Centre on Monday morning. Nearly 500 oxygen beds for Covid patients have been started from Monday."

Gr. Chennai Corporation to open 500-bed Covid care centre

The preparations to convert these places into Covid centres have already begun, an official with the corporation told IANS. The management of the Oxygen pipeline and supply will be entrusted with senior medical professionals and these centres which are used for asymptomatic patients will be converted to full-fledged centres once a green signal is obtained from the government.
Centre will give 50% vaccines free: Harsh Vardhan clarifies

Harsh Vardhan said, as per the new policy, even after the launch of third phase of vaccination starting May 1, the Government of India will continue giving vaccine doses from its 50 per cent quota to the states and UTs for free. These vaccines shall continue to be administered by states and union territories.
Indian Navy deploys 'Oxygen Express' to Lakshwadeep islands

Bharat Biotech's announcement to spark debate on Covid vax pricing

However, Bharat Biotech, like Serum Institute of India (SII), has justified the price saying recovering cost is essential in the journey of innovation towards other vaccines. The Hyderabad-based company has fixed the price of Covaxin at Rs 1,200 for private hospitals. This is twice the cost fixed by Serum Institute of India (SII) for Covishield.

551 Oxygen plants to be setup through PM CARES

In a statement, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) said, "the Prime Minister has directed that these plants should be made functional as soon as possible. The Prime Minister said that these plants will serve as a major boost to oxygen availability at the district level."
