Delhi High Court division bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli asked, "Are these not prescription drugs? How is anybody able to procure large quantities? Is he holding a license to deal in these drugs?." Rahul Mehra, representing the Delhi government, told the court that it is "highly irresponsible" on the part of Gambhir, while when contacted Gautam Gambir's office did not elicit any response on the Court remarks.
Major quake hits Assam, Arunachal: PM assures all help

At least seven aftershocks were recorded in the hours after the first quake shook up Sonitpur bordering Arunachal Pradesh in northern Assam at 7.51 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) the tremors were felt even in North Bengal and other parts of the northeastern states including Arunachal Pradesh.

"The data should reassure many people that in the real world, after-effects of the vaccine are usually mild and short-lived, especially in the over 50's who are most at risk of the infection," Tim Spector, Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at the varsity.

A Union Home Ministry notification said, "In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021 (15 of 2021), the Central Government hereby appoints the 27th day of April 2021, as the date on which the provisions of the said Act shall come into force."
Citing own robust system, India turns down UN supply chain help: Spokesperson

"We offered the assistance of our integrated supply chain if it was required. We've been told at this point that it's not needed because India has a reasonably robust system to deal with this. Indian Army expands Delhi Base Hospital capacity 4X

At the start of the current Covid-19 wave, the Base Hospital catered to 340 Covid beds of which just 250 beds were oxygenated. "This resource was being severely stretched for additional capacities due to exponential rise in cases," Colonel Aman Anand said. Despite the beds being filled to their capacity, patients over and above this capacity are being treated in the Trauma Centre after obtaining their willingness to wait for beds.

A two-time Lok Sabha MP from Mumbai, Gaikwad, 81, was the father of Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad. Hailing from Dharavi, Gaikwad served as a Cabinet Minister in Maharashtra for several years and also functioned in various positions, including President of Mumbai Congress on various occasions during its most difficult times.
UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma hospitalised due to Covid

Sharma was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday late evening while his wife, who had also tested positive was hospitalized earlier. Sharma informed about his hospitalization in a tweet. "A few days ago, I tested positive for COVID-19. After consultation with doctors, I was in home isolation. For better treatment, I have been hospitalized," he tweeted in Hindi.
Delaying vax will give virus opportunity to develop new variants

The government of India has announced that all individuals aged above 18 years would be eligible to get Covid-19 vaccination starting May 1. This must be considered as the end game for the deadly pandemic to be driven out of India but this would not be achieved if the young and the old hesitate to take the vaccine, say the experts.

In the morning, Aarogya Setu, the Government's mobile application for contact tracing and Adissemination of medical advisories to contain the spread of Covid, tweeted: "Registration for 18 plus to begin on http://cowin.gov.in, Aarogya Setu App and UMANG App at 4 PM on 28th April. Appointments at State Government centres and Private centres depending on how many vaccination centres are ready on 1st May for Vaccination of 18 plus."
