Change of guard in Tamil Nadu, DMK to form govt after 10 years
The DMK, led by its President M.K. Stalin, is leading in 121 of the state's 234 Assembly constituencies and if the trend continues, then it can form the government on its own. The party-led front is leading in 143 Assembly constituencies (Congress 15, CPI and CPI-M two each, VCK three) for which the polls were held on April 6.

However, there seemed to be a setback for the Trinamool supremo in Nandigram, where after several twist-and-turns, her one-time aide Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP reportedly defeated her by a narrow margin. The Trinamool, however, has not accepted the verdict yet, claiming that the counting is still on.
Congress leads against BJP in MP Assembly by-poll
Voting was held on April 17 for the by-election to the Damoh Assembly constituency and counting is underway at Polytechnic College. Congress candidate Ajay Tandon is leading by 1,815 votes. The counting is taking place in three rooms with the postal ballots being counted in a separate room. According to the Election Officer, there are five tables each in two rooms and four tables in the third room.
Delhi's Rainbow Children's Hospital sounds alert over oxygen shortage
The 130-bedded hospital sent an SOS message through its Twitter handle after it again faced a similar issue on Sunday when the oxygen availability at the facility for the day was estimated till 12 noon. Based in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area, the hospital currently admitted 80-90 Covid patients that included pregnant women and children-- some in ICU and NICU.

The Supreme Court was assured by the State Election Commission, which also said that senior officials will ensure that Covid protocol is being strictly followed. However, as counting for the crucial Panchayat polls progressed, all safety protocols were demolished in the UP districts.
File FIR against people celebrating poll victory: EC to States
"ECI has taken serious note of some reports coming in of congregation (s) of people to celebrate anticipated victory. ECI has directed Chief Secretaries of all five states to file FIR in each such case and suspend SHOs of the concerned Police Stations, and report the action taken immediately of each such incidence," the ECI Spokesperson said.

According to the Election Commission's initial trends of the results, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party alone is leading in 51 seats while its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in ten seats and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) is leading in seven seats.
West Bengal: Mamata trailing, big lead for other Trinamool heavyweights
After the fourth round of counting, Banerjee is trailing behind her one-time aide Adhikari in Nandigram in East Midnapore district by a margin of 3,710 votes. As per the latest Election Commission data, Adhikari, who had jumped ship from the Trinamool to the BJP in December last year, has got 34,430 votes against Banerjee's 30,655.
Big setback for Congress as it is set to lose Assam, Kerala, Puducherry
The Kerala setback is significant as party leader Rahul Gandhi is MP from Wayanad and his close lieutenant K.C. Venugopal also hails from the same state. In Puducherry, also the NDA is ahead of Congress, according to the early trends. The only solace for the Congress in Tamil Nadu where the alliance is set to sail through, but the Congress is a junior partner here.
