Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nepal's newly sworn-in Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, and reaffirmed New Delhi's commitment to continuing support for Nepal's stride toward economic prosperity. Modi assured Oli of continued strong cooperation between the two nations underpinned by their historical and cultural ties.
"Under your able leadership and rich experience, this wide-ranging cooperation between our two countries will move in the right direction for the benefit of our two peoples," Modi added while laying special focus on Nepal as a special and priority partner under India's neighborhood first policy.
The message, according to Oli's Secretariat, emphasized Modi's commitment "to being a steadfast partner of Nepal in the pursuit of its economic prosperity and development priorities." He mentioned the ages-old cultural and civilizational relations and open borders between the two countries, which have fostered close relations between their peoples.
Noting the recent progress in connectivity and energy cooperation, Modi invited further cooperation in all facets of development. Modi emphasized that the relations between India and Nepal are characterized by deep cultural ties and robust people-to-people linkages along open borders, adding strength and dynamism to their relations.
Exuding confidence in the future trajectory of bilateral ties, Modi said, "I look forward to working very closely with Prime Minister Oli to take our partnership to newer heights and fulfill the aspirations of the citizens of the two countries.".
