Authorities reported on Tuesday that a foreign extremist known as "Abu Hamza," affiliated with the banned group Lashkar-e-Taiba, was implicated in the murder of a government worker in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. In response, a reward of Rs 10 lakh was offered for any information leading to his capture.
The victim, Mohammad Razaq, aged 40, was fatally attacked on Monday in the village of Kunda Top in the Thanamandi area. Razaq was employed in the Social Welfare department, while his brother, Mohammad Tahir Choudhary, serves in the Territorial Army.
The assailants, identified as members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, stormed into the compound of a Territorial Army official in the village, as per police statements. Fortunately, Choudhary managed to escape unharmed.
A case has been registered at the Thanamandi police station, with authorities initiating a thorough investigation to apprehend all individuals involved in the heinous act. Evidence has pinpointed one of the attackers as a "foreign terrorist" codenamed Abu Hamza, the police spokesperson disclosed.
Law enforcement and security personnel in the Rajouri-Poonch districts are actively pursuing the group responsible for this attack, aiming to neutralize their operations, the spokesperson affirmed.
Furthermore, a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh has been declared for any details leading to the capture of the terrorist, with authorities distributing a poster featuring his likeness. Descriptions indicate that the suspect, aged 32, was dressed in a Pathani suit with a brown shawl and carried an orange bag. He is known to operate in the Shadra Sharief and Der ki Gali areas, participating in various terror activities, according to police reports.
Informants providing actionable intelligence leading to the arrest of the accused will receive the reward, with their identity safeguarded, the spokesperson assured.
