Isha Foundation Maintains Integrity as TN Police Report in SC Clears Missing Persons Allegations

The Tamil Nadu police would hope that one missing person will also be found soon.

As per a report submitted by the Tamil Nadu Police before the Supreme Court, over the last few years, some complaints relating to missing persons were filed associated with the Isha Yoga Centre. However, in the probe, it was found that out of six persons missing from the centre, five have been traced.

The Police also said that people are living there at the centre according to their own will.

The Supreme Court dismissed a case against the Isha Foundation, based on a father's claim that his two daughters were "brainwashed" into joining Sadhguru's ashram in Coimbatore and were being kept from contacting their family, after a Police report.

The Court, under Chief Justice D. Y. Chandrachud, dismissed the petition as it had been granted permission to stay on in the ashram by their two daughters, Geeta and Lata, who were purportedly on record as 27 and 24 years of age respectively. Their appearance before the High Court had served the purpose of the habeas corpus petition, and that was that.

On the Isha Foundation's side, they welcomed the Supreme Court ruling stating, "We remain hopeful for the safe return of this individual and are committed to supporting efforts to locate the missing person.".

The Foundation dispelled the allegations of child molestation, saying that the concerned doctor is an employee of Isha Outreach, not of the ashram. "The incident takes place outside the ashram premises, and we are fully cooperating with the authorities as the investigation progresses," the Isha Foundation statement said.
Rumors regarding a crematorium inside the ashram were also labeled as false, with the Foundation clarifying that nothing of the sort is found in the premises. Isha Foundation is an open and free space for seekers from all over the world. People from all parts of India and all over the globe live here freely without any hindrance, and the recently filed Tamil Nadu Police status report to the Supreme Court confirms that both the female monks are residing in the ashram out of their own wish and will. In fact, one of them recently participated in a 10 km marathon," the Foundation added.

The statement also recognized the cooperation of meditators and seekers who helped the police during their disruptives while normal spiritual practices. The Foundation recalled its efforts toward human well-being through yogic tools offered by Sadhguru and welcomes seekers from all over the world to experience the transformative power of Yoga.

We welcome the verdict of the Highest Court of the Land. Most unfortunate that the Supreme Court, in its valuable time, wastes it on frivolous petitions filed with a bad intention by those who want to delay the case. There are numerous authentic cases for which the court's attention is sought; it's time we used the privileges of democracy more responsibly, remarked Sadhguru in an X post.

Maa Mayu and Maa Mathi, women monks said, "We are highly jubilant about the Supreme Court verdict for fighting on our right to live a monastic life. This trial by our natal family has been very painful to us, but we thank Isha volunteers and Sadhguru and well-wishers for standing with us."
