Russian Envoy Eager to Welcome PM Modi at BRICS Summit in Kazan

The ambassador underlines the importance of this year's summit: "BRICS through this year's summit continues to emphasize respect for civilizational diversity, encourage global cooperation, and preserve its independence from external pressures and double standards.".

He was invited by President Putin to attend this year's BRICS Summit at Kazan. His meeting with PM Modi is one of 40 heads of state and leaders, upon whom Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov expressed his optimism.
The ambassador underlines the importance of this year's summit: "BRICS through this year's summit continues to emphasize respect for civilizational diversity, encourage global cooperation, and preserve its independence from external pressures and double standards.".

The BRICS framework is unique in respect for civilisational diversity and a zealous commitment to non-interference in domestic affairs," Ambassador Alipov noted.

"This has granted the BRICS an apolitical platform free from external pressure and well within the principles of mutual respect and sovereignty," he added.

Observing the heightening interest in the group globally, Ambassador Alipov noted that the development of the group was organic and naturally expanded.

'It is inevitable that BRICS will expand in one way or another given its growing geopolitical and practical relevance, he stressed.

He underlined further that the prospective member countries of BRICS need to be "economically ambitious" and committed to opposition against "illegitimate sanctions."

The ambassador stressed the organization's important role, saying it has promoted the agenda of the Global South,.

For example, he said that there is a lack of alternative systems to the existing international financial systems and that "there is a need to develop an alternative to SWIFT.
"BRICS in today's geopolitics comes under relevance, and we must push ahead with alternatives to aged financial structures that now no longer suit the needs of emergent economies.".

Amid the global excitement within the countdown to the Kazan Summit, Russia will be emphasizing its readiness to bolster even closer cooperation with BRICS partners in a fairer international order. This summit will meet burning global issues in a manner of further consolidating the relevance of the BRICS alliance as a vibrant voice in the Global South.

As a part of an ongoing effort to enhance the economic cooperation between India and Russia, the Embassy of India in Moscow successfully organized a Business to Business Networking Dinner on the sidelines of the BRICS Business Forum.
More than eighty of the top industry figures from both sides were brought together to facilitate fruitful dialogue as well as possible scopes of trade and investments.

The dinner, led by Vinay Kumar, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, offered a rare opportunity for business leaders to express their vision of future strategic partnerships. Indian delegates cut across various fields, from technology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and infrastructure, mingling with their Russian counterparts, thus marking the beginning of a lively exchange of ideas.

He underlined the importance of India-Russia economic ties in the background of the changing world order and the growing role of BRICS nations.

"In this context, such networking dinners are essential for expanding bilateral trade, increasing investment flows and finding new opportunities for cooperation in new emerging sectors such as digital technology and renewable energy", he added.

This remains a reflection of the desire of India to continue improving its trade ties with Russia, ensuring that Indian businesses will have the wherewithal and networks to be successful in Russian markets, and vice versa.

Commentators on the forum said they eagerly and enthusiastically want to deepen ties, urging cooperation in sectors such as energy, defense, information technology and healthcare.

Several key discussions have been held with regard to the possibility of joint ventures, more access to each other's markets and cooperative innovation. Indeed, India-Russia economic partnership has, for a long time, been based on a trust-based model of mutual benefit, and tonight's event serves as a reiteration of the much-needed shared vision into the future.
