After border face-off with China, India successfully carries out night trials of Agni-V nuclear-capable ballistic missile: Report

Quoting defence sources, news agency ANI reported that the test was carried out to validate new technologies and equipment on the missile which is now lighter than before. On December 9, Indian troops successfully thwarted an attempt by Chinese soldiers to transgress the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang sector.

Days after the Indian Army thwarted China's attempt to forcibly change the status quo at the Tawang border in Arunachal Pradesh,  India on Thursday successfully carried out the night trials of the Agni-5 nuclear-capable ballistic missile which can hit targets beyond 5,000 km.

Quoting defence sources, news agency ANI reported that the test was carried out to validate new technologies and equipment on the missile which is now lighter than before.

"The trial has proved the capability to enhance the range of the Agni-5 missile, if required," ANI quoted its defence sources as saying.

The Agni 5 ballistic missile tested on Thursday evening is lighter than before. The launch was carried out for a predetermined range and validated all operational parameters of the system, news agency IANS reported quoting an official.

On December 9, Indian troops successfully thwarted an attempt by Chinese soldiers to transgress the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang sector.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed the Parliament that Indian troops in a brave and resolute manner pushed back the Chinese troops back to their positions after a physical scuffle, in which minor injuries were suffered by both sides in the Yangtse area of the Tawang sector.
