‘Survives on international handouts’: India Rebukes Pakistan Over Kashmir Remarks at Geneva Summit

India's Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva was represented by Kshitij Tyagi, who faulted Pakistan for persistently spreading false narratives and claimed the leadership was operating under the influence of a "military-terrorist complex."

During the seventh session of the 58th Session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), India gave a scathing riposte to Pakistan, terming it a "failed state" that is reliant on foreign aid.

It is sad that Pakistan's rulers continue to perpetuate lies based on their terrorist-military establishment. By abusing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as its mouthpiece, Pakistan is ridiculing the platform. It is disappointing that this Council's precious time is still wasted by a failing state that survives on chaos and lives on handouts from around the world," Tyagi said.

India reaffirms Jammu & Kashmir's status
Reaffirming India's strong stance, Tyagi stressed that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are and will remain forever a part of India. He also underscored the impressive development in these areas.

The Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will forever be an integral and inalienable part of India. The outstanding political, social, and economic progress in Jammu & Kashmir in recent years is a testament to the people's faith in the government's initiatives to bring normalcy to a region long plagued by Pakistan-sponsored terrorism," he asserted.

Tyagi called on Pakistan to drop its obsession with India and instead work on solving its own internal issues.

"India is committed to democracy, development, and providing dignity to its people—values that Pakistan would do well to emulate," he further added.

India's Response to Pakistan's Misinformation at UNSC
Tyagi’s remarks follow a similar statement by India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish. On February 19, during a UN Security Council (UNSC) debate on multilateralism and global governance reform, Harish strongly condemned Pakistan's misinformation campaigns.

Responding to remarks by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Harish reiterated India’s stance:

"I would like to reiterate that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has always been, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India."

India's firm response reaffirms its unshakeable stance on Jammu and Kashmir while laying bare Pakistan's persistent efforts to manipulate facts on the international stage.
