Minimum temperatures are hovering between 7-10 degrees Celsius over several regions including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the persistence of dense to very dense fog across Northwest India for the upcoming 3-4 days. Additionally, light and isolated rainfall are anticipated over Northwest and Central India from December 31 to January 2.

Minimum temperatures are hovering between 7-10 degrees Celsius over several regions including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. In areas such as Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and interior Odisha, temperatures range from 11-12 degrees Celsius. As of Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m., dense to very dense fog prevailed in various parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and portions of Uttar Pradesh. Visibility in several areas was severely affected, reaching as low as zero in locations like Bathinda in Punjab, Agra and Bareilly in western Uttar Pradesh, and Varanasi in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The IMD projects that dense to very dense fog conditions will persist during night and morning hours in many parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh until Friday morning, and in some areas for the subsequent three days. Similar foggy conditions are expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh until Friday morning and in isolated pockets for the following three days. Isolated pockets in Odisha, north Rajasthan, northwest Madhya Pradesh, and certain northeastern regions are also likely to experience dense fog during specific morning hours.

Additionally, a fresh Western Disturbance is predicted to influence Northwest India from Saturday onwards. This disturbance, along with its interaction with lower-level easterly winds, may bring light, isolated rainfall to various regions including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha from Sunday until January 2.

Furthermore, due to a new easterly wave, there's a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall in southern Tamil Nadu and Kerala from Saturday to January 2, with isolated heavy rainfall expected over southern Tamil Nadu on Saturday and Sunday, according to the IMD's forecast.
