Spiritual leader Abhay Singh, known popularly as 'IIT Baba' after he became the center of media attention during Maha Kumbh, said he was beaten up during a live debate held on a private news channel at Noida on Friday.
In his complaint, Singh said a batch of people attired in saffron, entered the office of the private news channel where he was recording a live show, behaved unruly with him, and battered him with sticks.
After the incident, 'IIT Baba' organized a sit-in protest in front of the police outpost in Sector 126. He, however, later called off his protest after being convinced by the authorities.
Bhupendra Singh, SHO of Sector 126 police station, confirmed that following talks with the police, Abhay Singh decided not to go ahead with filing a formal complaint.
