On Monday, Delhi grappled with dense fog, causing visibility to drop to zero and leading to significant disruptions in flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported very dense fog at the airport in the early morning, with the Runway Visual Range (RVR) on all runways ranging from 125 to 175 metres. This prompted the implementation of CAT IIIB operations for both takeoffs and landings.

While landings and takeoffs continued at Delhi Airport, flights not compliant with CAT III standards were likely to be affected. Passengers were advised to contact the respective airlines for updated flight information.

In response to the challenging weather conditions, airlines like SpiceJet issued warnings to passengers about potential disruptions to departures and arrivals.

"Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status," SpiceJet tweeted on Monday morning.

Numerous flights faced delays and diversions due to poor visibility. The foggy conditions persisted throughout the morning, and the minimum temperature in Delhi dropped to 7.8 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average. The weather department forecasted a maximum temperature around 25 degrees Celsius with a mainly clear sky and shallow to moderate fog.
