Delhi Witnesses Minimum Temperature of 8.7°C, Air Quality Index Declared 'Very Poor'

The national capital woke up to another chilly morning on Thursday, as the minimum temperature settled at 8.7 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Forecasters predict a slight drop in mercury over the next two to three days, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 22 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

At 8:30 am, the relative humidity stood at 90 percent.

Despite some improvement, the air quality in Delhi remained in the "very poor" category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 350 at 8 am on Thursday, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

While still in the very poor range, the AQI showed a slight improvement from the previous day's index value of 363.

The AQI serves as a measure of air quality, with values between zero and 50 considered good, 51 to 100 satisfactory, 101 to 200 moderate, 201 to 300 poor, 301 to 400 very poor, and 401 to 500 severe.
