Delhi Shivers at 3.5 Degrees Celsius as Dense Fog Engulfs the City

This followed Monday's season's coldest morning in Delhi, recording a low of 3.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below the average.

On Tuesday morning, Delhi experienced a minimum temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a thick layer of fog in several parts of the city, impacting both rail and road traffic. The cold wave and foggy conditions led to delays in at least 30 Delhi-bound trains or those with routes passing through the national capital, as reported by railway officials.

This followed Monday's season's coldest morning in Delhi, recording a low of 3.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below the average. The chilly morning on Tuesday saw the minimum temperature at 3.5 degrees Celsius, also four notches below the normal, at 8:30 am, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials. The Palam observatory registered a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius.

Delhi's air quality index (AQI) showed a slight improvement from the previous day, recorded at 351 ('very poor') at 9 am, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data. The AQI scale categorizes values between zero and 50 as 'good,' 51 and 100 as 'satisfactory,' 101 and 200 as 'moderate,' 201 and 300 as 'poor,' 301 and 400 as 'very poor,' and 401 and 500 as 'severe.'
