Delhi Reports Minimum Temperature of 5.3°C; Air Quality Persists at 'Very Poor' Levels

Delhi experienced a chilling morning with the mercury dropping to 5.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below the usual seasonal average, on Monday.

Observations reported Palam with the lowest visibility of 800 meters at 8:00 a.m. and Safdarjung at 500 meters between 5:30 and 7:00 a.m., with minimum temperatures recorded at 7.9 and 5.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Indian Railways shared that delays affecting 20 trains bound for Delhi are due to various factors, including fog-related issues in the northern region. The most extended delay reported for trains arriving in Delhi is six hours and 30 minutes.

Despite the weather, air quality remained in the 'very poor' category at multiple stations across the city. At Anand Vihar, PM 2.5 levels stood at 372, categorized as 'very poor,' while PM 10 reached 284, termed 'poor' by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The Air Quality Index (AQI) serves as a measure: 0-50 ('good'), 51-100 ('satisfactory'), 101-200 ('moderate'), 201-300 ('poor'), 301-400 ('very poor'), and 401-500 ('severe').

At the T3 terminal of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, PM 2.5 levels were recorded at 329 ('very poor'), while PM 10 stood at 235 ('poor').
