Delhi experienced a moderate fog and chilly morning with the minimum temperature settling at 4.3 degrees Celsius, which is four notches below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The forecast indicated a maximum temperature of around 22 degrees Celsius for the day with a mainly clear sky.
However, fog disrupted visibility at Palam, reducing it to 350 meters at 5:30 a.m., impacting flight and train operations. The air quality in several areas across the city remained in the 'very poor' category.
In the Jahangirpuri area at 9 a.m., PM2.5 levels were recorded in the 'severe' category at 429, and PM10 reached 417, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The Air Quality Index (AQI) categorizes air quality as 'good' (0-50), 'satisfactory' (51-100), 'moderate' (101-200), 'poor' (201-300), 'very poor' (301-400), and 'severe' (401-500).
Meanwhile, the IGI Airport T3 reported PM2.5 levels at 320 (very poor) and PM10 at 187 (moderate).
