Delhi Shivers with Minimum Temperature of 4.7°C, Air Quality Registers 'Severe' Levels at Various Stations

On Friday, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 4.7 degrees Celsius, which is four notches below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The forecast for the day indicated a maximum temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of about 5 degrees Celsius.

Despite the weather, the air quality in several areas of the city remained in the 'very poor' category, with some stations recording 'severe' levels. In the Anand Vihar area at 9 a.m., PM2.5 levels were in the 'severe' category at 500, and PM10 levels also reached 500, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The Air Quality Index (AQI) categorizes air quality as follows: 0-50 ('good'), 51-100 ('satisfactory'), 101-200 ('moderate'), 201-300 ('poor'), 301-400 ('very poor'), and 401-500 ('severe'). At the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport (T3), PM2.5 levels were recorded at 396, and PM10 at 401. In Dwarka Sector 8, PM2.5 levels stood at 464, and PM10 was at 422, both falling under the 'severe' category.
