Bharat Forge has revealed that its subsidiary, Kalyani Strategic Systems, is set to sign an agreement with U.S.-based defense firms AM General and Mandus Group. This partnership will focus on developing and manufacturing advanced artillery gun platforms tailored to meet the changing needs of modern military forces.
The collaboration aims to produce compact, durable, lightweight, and mobile artillery systems that can perform reliably in various weather conditions and terrains.
“As the battlefield changes with near peer adversaries, there is increasing demand for modern light artillery systems with enhanced firepower, precision strike, tactical mobility, and command & control capabilities,” Bharat Forge said in an exchange filing
India's defense manufacturing sector has reached significant milestones of late. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh recently announced that defense production achieved a record value of ₹1.27 lakh crore in the 2023-24 fiscal year. He noted that India is now exporting military equipment to more than 90 friendly nations.
For the first time, India’s defense exports exceeded ₹21,000 crore in 2023-24, and the government aims to boost this figure to ₹50,000 crore over the next five years.
