An indigenously developed multi-role supersonic fighter jet, the LCA AF MK II, will be inducted into the Indian Air Force by 2025, according to an official.
Vaji Rajpurohit, an employee of Aeronautics Development Authority Agency in Bangalore, said that, "The IAF will buy 324 aircraft in total from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, which includes the LCA AF MK II. It has planned to be inducted till 2025." "The Mark II is a multi-role supersonic fighter jet with a delta-wing configuration, equipped with state-of-the-art systems like missile approach warning system. It is expected that in the next decade, the LCA Mark II will replace older aircraft such as the Mirage 2000, Jaguar and MiG-29.
Originally designed by Indian Defence Laboratory, the Tejas was inducted into the IAF services during the 1980s. It is a multirole light fighter, developed together with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's Aircraft Research and Design Centre, as a single engine, delta wing. Although the LCA was finally named "Tejas" in 2003, the first squadron of Tejas was only raised in 2016. It is said to be the smallest and lightest aircraft in the fighter category.
Currently, Tejas comes in three variants: Tejas Mark 1, Tejas Mark 1A, and a trainer version. "Forty Tejas Mark 1A aircraft have already been delivered to the IAF and are stationed at Sulur Air Base, with large-scale production expected to start shortly," he said.
Moreover, the IAF intends to add the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) to its forces. The prototype of AMCA would be available only by 2028. The aircraft will have a 5.5 generation with two and four engines of General Electric 414. Vaji Rajpurohit said,
After induction into service, India too would join the ranks of powerful nations like China, Russia, and the USA.
