After a span of 31 years, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided not to commemorate 'Shaurya Diwas' in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant departure in tradition following the demolition of the Babri mosque.
The VHP and its associated groups have opted out of organizing any events or public gatherings in Ayodhya, including Karsevakpuram, on this day.
Sharad Sharma, the regional spokesperson of VHP operating from Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya, stated, "Since the unanimous Supreme Court verdict in favor of the Ram Mandir on November 9, 2019, the chapter regarding the Babri Masjid has concluded for us." He further added, "Now, December 6 has been assimilated into January 22, the day when Ram Lalla will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple."
Sharma clarified that locals in Ayodhya who wished to light diyas in their homes on Wednesday were free to do so. However, it's noteworthy that the Muslim community plans to observe Yaum-e-Gam on this day.
This significant shift in the VHP's stance signifies a departure from the historical commemoration of 'Shaurya Diwas,' marking a transition towards embracing the upcoming enthronement of Ram Lalla in the Ram Temple as the focal point of significance for the community.
